Learning Targets:
I can...- Create a dot design using color mixing techniques learned in class
- Use geometric shapes (square, triangle, circle, rectangle), space (positive, negative) and texture (soft/hard, thick in)
- Use Mathematical Connections (diameter, radius, segment) to discuss concentric circles within Abstract Art
- Define Expressionist (expressing emotions rather than pictures)
Lesson One
Day One, Art Lesson
2. Read "The Dot" By Peter H. Reynolds
3. Discussion Questions "What can you create with just a dot? How can you make a dot by not making a dot? Can you make a picture by painting little dot? How much space would 100 dots fill?"
Lesson Activities:
1. Use A Paper Plate to trace & paint around Two Different Circles2. Add One Color inside the center of the traced circle
3. Add One Concentric Ring around the outside of second traced circle
Reminder:
Initials & Home Teacher on Back Of Paper
Day Two, Art Start
1. Retrieve Dot Design for Assigned Table2. Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Latte (1859-1891) Georges Seurat
3. Pointillism- is a picture made using only dots. How many dots do you think Georges Seurat used to make this painting? (Approximately 3,456,000 dots)
Lesson Activities:
1. Add Complimentary Colors going around the center dot until positive space is filled
3. Add Concentric Ring around the outside of the first ring until negative space filled
3. Sign Your Name at the bottom of the Dot Design
3. Add Concentric Ring around the outside of the first ring until negative space filled
3. Sign Your Name at the bottom of the Dot Design
