Day One, Art Start

3. Discussion Questions "How long have sea turtles been on earth? Where do sea turtles live? Do all sea turtles have shells? Can sea turtles take off their shells? What is the difference between turtles and tortoises? How deep can sea turtles dive? How can a sea turtle hold its breath? How big was the largest sea turtle ever recorded? How are sea turtles tracked in the ocean and how long can they be tracked for? What are the methods used for tracking sea turtles? Why are sea turtles tagged? Which is the most common sea turtle? Which is the most dangerous sea turtle? Why are sea turtles endangered? Why should humans protect sea turtles?"

Lesson Activities

1. Choose 12" X 15" Drawing Paper
2. Use pencil to draw animal parts (flippers, head, shell) of ones own sea turtle drawing
3. Use black glue to add line types (contour, outline, thickness) to Heat Wave Chalk Glue Turtle

Day Two, Art Start

Where do turtles lay their eggs? What type of environments would you find turtles or tortoises?"

1. Add decorative patterns (hearts, swirls, dots, stripes) to turtle shells of turtle drawings
2. Use black glue to outline decorative patterns (hearts, swirls, dots, stripes) of turtle shells of turtle drawings
3. Use warm colors (red, orange, yellow) to fill in positive space (turtle shell) of the Heat Wave Chalk Glue Turtles

Day Three, Art Start

1. Retrieve Heat Wave Chalk Glue Turtles for Assigned Table
2. Set Up Studio Area (black glue, sidewalk chalk, tissue paper)
