MODERN MASTER MURALS

Modern Master Murals

Learning Targets:

• Create a collaborative mural using assemblage techniques learned in class
• Use line (vertical, horizontal, diagonal), shape (geometric, organic, free form), and color (analogous, monochromic) to construct reproductions  
• Use design principles (composition, placement, proportion) to discuss artistic abilities, artist styles, and different art history movements 
• Define Mural (a painting or artwork on a wall)

3. Read "Sky Color" By Peter H. Reynolds

4. Discuss Different Situations "What is a Mural? How does a mural work? What if two artists want to draw in the same spot? What is someone has a different style than someone else?"

Lesson Activities:

1. Choose an 8" by 8" Square Cardstock
2. Add Color(s) inside Cardboard Square before reconstructing famous artwork
3. Write Column & Row on Back of Cardstock

Day Two, Art Start 

1. Retrieve 8" by 8" Square Cardstock for Assigned Table.
2. Mural- is a large painting or artwork on a wall. How large do you think our mural will be? What are some ways we can make our collaborative piece look like the original artwork? 

Lesson Activities:

1. Finish Adding Color(s) inside Cardboard Square before reconstructing famous artworks
2. Use Baby Wipes to remove any additional residue (dust, chalk)
3. Cut Edges off of Cardstock Squares before Assemblage  

Day Three, Art Start 

1. Retrieve 8" by 8" Cardstock from Assigned Table
2. Set Up Studio Area (Scissors, Glue Sticks, Tagboard)

Lesson Activities:

1. Finish cutting edges off cardstock squares
2. Use Glue Sticks to begin assembling mural reproduction
3. Use Clear Tape to cover Final Modern Master Murals
